THE HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
In the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling (RPD) within the Department of Educational Sciences, both undergraduate and graduate programs are carried out. The undergraduate program received its first students in the 2009-2010 academic year and gave its first graduates in the 2012-2013 academic year. In the 2010-2011 academic year, II. education has been opened, but since the 2020-2021 academic year, there has been no student admission, it has been closed. At the graduate level, it has started its academic activities since the 2017-2018 academic year.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program is a program that provides theoretical and practical training to train psychological counselors who can meet the academic, professional, personal and social needs of individuals and provide preventive and preventive mental health services at the primary level. In this context, it is aimed to protect the psychological well-being of individuals with adjustment problems and developmental difficulties.
As of 2021, 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Dr. Instructor A total of 6 lecturers, including a member of staff and 2 research assistants, are working. There are 433 students enrolled in the undergraduate program and 31 students in the graduate program.
Admission to the program is carried out within the framework of the academic and legal regulations of the university, on the condition of completing the processes determined by OSYM / passing the exams.
The language of instruction of the program is Turkish.
The education period of the program is 4 years, and at the end of this period, students who complete the theoretical and applied 240 ECTS compulsory course load graduate with a bachelor's degree in accordance with the "Aksaray University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations".
According to the application principles of the new teacher training undergraduate programs, which were put into practice by YÖK in 2018, 51% of the courses given consist of field, 18% general culture and 31% vocational knowledge courses. Evaluation and grading of students is carried out with a midterm and a final exam applied each semester. In addition, the studies, applications or assignments done during the semester can replace the written exams
